The Technical College of the Lowcountry is excited to announce a new location in Colleton County, thanks to a special partnership with the Colleton Adult Learning Center and the Colleton County School District.
“This collaboration is a game-changer for TCL and Colleton,” TCL President Dr. Richard Gough said. “We are thrilled to have a physical presence in the community and look forward to serving more residents as they work toward reaching not only their educational and career goals but also their financial goals.”
Community education officials are echoing their excitement for the project.
“Colleton County School District’s partnership with the Technical College of the Lowcountry will provide awesome opportunities for student and adult learners,” Interim Superintendent Jessica F. Williams said. “We are excited about this partnership and will continue to work together to provide high quality programs for our community.”
Chris Horvath, Director of the Colleton Adult Learning Center, agrees.
“This partnership advances our priority to invest in people by expanding the talent pipeline within Colleton County,” Chris Horvath said. “We are committed to putting people first as we leverage our combined resources to provide in-demand courses that will lead more students to nationally recognized workforce certifications.”
Housed at the Colleton Adult Learning Center, TCL Colleton is offering fast-track industrial, computer and allied health courses through its Kozak Office of Workforce Development. Classes include certified nurse aide (CNA), phlebotomy, medical administrative assistant, certified production technician, CompTIA and more.
Classes are held in the evenings, and most are delivered through a unique online-learning format featuring live teaching from certified instructors. The CNA and phlebotomy courses are taught in-person by expert faculty at the Center’s fully equipped labs.
The best part? The South Carolina Workforce Industry Needs Scholarship (SCWINS) and other grants and scholarships make many of these classes free for most students. Plus, participants can tap into other funding sources through the Adult Learning Center that may help cover other costs such as transportation, childcare and food.
