2019 Sun City-Okatie Lions Presents Nursing Scholarship Gift

Scholarship Gift Presentation from Sun City-Okatie Lions Club — Sun City-Okatie Lions Club President, Bill Teeter, and Jessica Bridges, Associate Director, TCL Foundation

The Sun City-Okatie Lions Club presented the Technical College of the Lowcountry with a gift of scholarship at its Annual Meeting, November 13, 2019. Since 2006, the Club has given $40,500 to support TCL nursing scholarships with the award of the Jay D’Meza Memorial Scholarship. TCL’s Associate Degree nursing program prepares graduates to practice as registered nurses. Students experience on-campus learning in high-tech simulation classroom environments and receive intensive hands-on practice at clinical sites located throughout Beaufort, Jasper, Hampton and Colleton counties.

2019 The Hospital Auxiliary makes $20,000 scholarship gift to the Technical College of the Lowcountry

Celebrating a 26-year giving history, The Hospital Auxiliary gave a generous donation to support scholarships for Technical College of the Lowcountry students pursuing degrees in Health Sciences.

At a July 22 presentation and recognition event, the Auxiliary presented a $20,000.00 check to the TCL Foundation.

The Auxiliary raises funds for scholarship through its annual fundraising golf tournament and this year Tournament Gold-level Sponsors including; Coca Cola, Kroger, Hargray, Bezilla Kinney, Hilton Head Regional HealthCare, PGA Tour Superstore, ORFIKS and Hilton Head BMW, dedicated their sponsorship funds to TCL Scholarship.

“The Auxiliary’s investment is well placed. It’s clear the Auxiliary understands the importance of encouraging students in the health sciences,” says Dr. Richard Gough, TCL’s President.

Over more than 25 years, the Auxiliary has given TCL nearly $500,000 in health sciences scholarships, supporting students in Nursing, Radiologic Technology, Physical Therapy Assisting and Surgical Technology programs.

The Hospital Auxiliary and its volunteers have contributed thousands of hours in support of hospital and community needs and among its many philanthropies, provides scholarships for students in the Lowcountry entering the healthcare field.

2018 TCL honors gift with the Steve & Cyndi Duvall Lecture Theater

The Technical College of the Lowcountry recently unveiled the Steve and Cyndi Duvall Lecture Theater in the Health Sciences Building on the Beaufort Campus. The naming recognizes the Duvalls’ generous gift establishing the Steve and Cyndi Duvall Health Sciences Fund at TCL.

“I am so grateful for the Duvalls’ support,” Health Sciences Dean Dr. Glenn Levicki said. “This gift will benefit our students and in turn the hospitals and health care facilities they go to work in. The Duvalls are helping elevate the college and the community we serve.”

The Fund supports the purchase of much-needed equipment to update and enhance the training and education of TCL Health Science students in the Nursing, Physical Therapist Assistant, Radiologic Technology, Surgical Technology, Massage Therapy and Medical Assisting programs.

Steve has been an active member of the TCL Foundation Board since 2013 and is the Executive Vice President for Strategic Client Development at EviCore Health Care. His wife Cyndi is a certified public accountant.
