James Beasley Bio:

James grew up on his family’s farm in Claxton, Georgia. The 2019 census reflects the population of Claxton as 2,665. Rural life is rewarding but James stated, “From a very early age, I knew that I did not want to farm as my family did. Certainly, I didn’t want to keep working in a heavy equipment and the welding environment like my dad, too hot for that kind of work in Southeast GA.” Those ideas created a path of discovery for James.

He was a teenager, hunting with his dad when he met some aircraft technicians. The men worked at Grumman American, now Gulfstream. They explained how great it was to work there. “From that time, I knew I wanted to work there as well.” He saw himself as working with the environmental systems on aircraft.

Not knowing how to get the initial training, James decided to join the military, eventually deciding on the Marine Corps. “I joined the USMC because they were the only branch that actually came to my home to recruit me. All the other branches wanted me to drive to them.”

James served a 4-year enlistment with 2 years in the Reserves. He was an F4 Phantom Metalsmith, MOS 6094. He applied and was hired by Gulfstream and worked there for 31 years.

Through a referral and recruitment process, James was hired by Netflix to manage its Aviation Maintenance fleet. The fleet carries Netflix executives and clients to various locations throughout the world. “We started the flight department with just two people in March of 2017, myself and the guy who hired me. By Sept of 2019, we had 7 business jets (3 Gulfstream G550s and 4 King Air 350is) and over 40 aviation professionals.”
